Situated less than half a mile from Lake Michigan, Cogdal Vineyards specializes in small-batch, estate-grown grapes and wines throughout seven acres of vineyards. At Cogdal Vineyards, you truly get the sense that this is a family operation. Named for the owners’ grandfather, Harry Cogdal, the vineyard has lived many past lives as an agricultural farm, from fruit trees and Christmas trees to vegetable crops and a nursery.
Drive through the vineyard and you’ll see the verdant greenery of the grapevines. The vineyard’s close proximity to Lake Michigan ensures that the vines remain healthy and the grapes grow into superior quality produce, as their temperature is regulated by the lake.
On-site, Condal Vineyards South Haven MI has a tasting room constructed with cherry and maple wood details that have been harvested on the property. Here, you can sample from white wines like Riesling and Dry Riesling, Reds such as Cabernet Franc and Merlot, and a range of unique blends. Dry red blends include the award-winning Vision and Big Lake, while dry whites include Whitecap and the award-winning Charlie’s Choice. Reflection is a semi-dry red, and Nana’s Kiss is an award-winning dry rosé. Sweet Inspiration is a semi-sweet white, while North Beach White is a sweet white.
